What to look for when choosing cat food?
Good cat food can be recognised by five characteristics:
- Meat or fish as the first ingredient, no grains, maize or soya in first place
- Taurine, essential amino acid that cats cannot produce themselves (at least 0.1%)

How much food does your cat need per day?
An average adult indoor cat of 4 kg needs approximately 50-60 g of dry food or 200-250 g of wet food daily. With combination feeding, halve both amounts. The exact dosage varies by brand and recipe, always consult the feeding table on the packaging and adjust based on your cat's condition.

Storing cat food: keeping it fresh
Store dry food in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. After opening the original packaging, it keeps for 4-6 weeks. Store wet food after opening for a maximum of 24-48 hours in the fridge, covered with a lid or foil. Always let wet food reach room temperature before serving. Keep food away from the litter box, cats do not like eating near their toilet.
